Tree-shapers the Future of Furniture...

Strange-Globe, strange place indeed. Today on Strange-Globe we are going to dip into the murky world of extreme environmental furniture. Now you make think that planting and growing a tree is a simple thing; put it in a hole, add some earth and water then hey presto! Tree! But you would be wrong. According to the girls and guys at Pooktre.com it’s all about nature and nurture.

Now I don’t know about you, but when I’m looking for some new furniture or a sofa I usually head to a regular High Street retailer like M&S or Argos. But have you ever considered growing your own? I’m sure most people haven’t, but that’s precisely what Peter and Becky do.

In 1986 Peter decided to grow his own chair, he later partnered up with Becky and the art of Pooktre was born. It’s an environmental art form which involves nurturing, cultivating and shaping trees to grow in a specific predetermined pattern. Some of the pictures look phenomenal, the art of Pooktre is truly spectacular, but obviously takes a lot of time and dedication.

A quick Google search led me even further into the world of Tree-shaping. There are various Tree-shaping practitioners across the world, most of their sites and bio’s can be found here on Treeshapers.net. I admire their dedication and commitment to a greener lifestyle, it’s nice to see people out there who are dedicated to tackling climate change no matter how big or small their efforts might be.

Of course if you prefer to take the easy route there are some great guides out there for sofa buying or bed buying, and if you have a green conscience then you can also check out this guide to eco-beds.

Strange-Globe, strange place indeed.
